I’m Nicole Gooden, and I am running because I refuse to accept that Harvey’s best days are behind us. Every single day, I see the strength of this community. I see it in our hard-working families, in the local small business owners who keep their doors open against the odds, and in the neighbors who always look out for one another. That spirit is still very much alive right here. What we have been missing is leadership that truly puts you, the residents, first—leadership that treats our people as the priority instead of an afterthought. I am running to be that leader, because you deserve a government that works for you.
I am Nicole Gooden, and I am running to deliver real results for our community, starting with our Harvey infrastructure. This is about the fundamental things that affect our daily lives every time we step outside. If you elect me, I will focus on repaving our streets and rebuilding our curbs to make our neighborhoods much easier to navigate. I will also work to plant trees that beautify our blocks and increase our street lighting to make our entire community brighter and more welcoming. These updates are simple, but they make a massive difference in how we live every single day. I am ready to focus on these concrete improvements and work hard for the community we all call home.
When I look around our community, I see the untapped potential in places that have been left behind. The vacant and abandoned properties scattered across our neighborhoods are holding us back, and it is time for practical action. If elected, my priority will be to tackle this issue head-on with a clear plan to mass sell and demolish these vacant properties. By moving these empty structures off the sidelines, we can clean up our streets, improve our shared spaces, and make room for fresh possibilities. Our neighborhoods deserve care, attention, and real progress. I am committed to taking these decisive steps to clear away what is broken and build a brighter, stronger future for everyone who calls this community home.
When I walk through our neighborhood, I see the real everyday issues that affect all of us: severe potholes, dangerous sinkholes, and broken sidewalks that make getting around unsafe. On top of that, garbage is piling up everywhere, and our shared spaces lack the basic landscaping they desperately need. I am running to fix these exact problems. Our community deserves well-maintained roads, clean streets, safe walkways, and attractive public areas. Addressing these issues is about basic safety, quality of life, and taking pride in where we live. If elected, I will focus on getting back to the basics by repairing our roads, clearing the trash, fixing our sidewalks, and bringing care back to our community.
When it comes to safety, my goal for our neighborhood starts with real trust and cooperation. I want us to have a police department that takes deep pride in serving and protecting every single member of our community. True safety comes from working together, which is why I am focused on building strong alliances between our local officers and the residents they serve. When we foster positive relationships grounded in mutual respect, we create a supportive network that genuinely works to make everyone safe. Every neighbor deserves to feel secure in their home and on their streets. By bringing our police department and our community closer together, we will build the lasting partnerships needed to protect all of our families and keep everyone safe.
